Esta segunda edición, con un total de 80 problemas resueltos con todo detalle y 20 problemas propuestos con sus respectivas respuestas, pretende ser una contribución positiva, novedosa y didáctica a la materia de introducción a la Ingeniería Química. La obra está estructurada en cuatro capítulos: Balance macroscópico de materia, Balance macroscópico de energía, Balances de materia y energía aplicados a los reactores químicos y Balance de energía mecánica. Cada uno de ellos se inicia con un breve resumen de los fundamentos teóricos de cada tema y, a continuación, se propone una abundante colección de problemas que se resuelven con todo detalle. Al final de cada capítulo se incluyen cinco textos de problemas adicionales para resolver con sus respectivas respuestas, así como la nomenclatura y las fuentes bibliográficas empleadas en su desarrollo teórico y práctico.
